Elizabeth Shea Dance is a chamber ensemble who seek new ways to tell human stories. The company has performed across the US and abroad, most recently at the X Theatre in Adelaide, Australia, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the ODC Theatre in San Francisco, and the Ailey Citygroup Theatre in New York.

A recent film project, Breath|Light|Stone, has been screened as an official selection at international festivals across the globe, and won several awards, including Best Dance Film, Best Choreography for the Lens, and Best Ensemble. The company premiered Ascension in 2020, a site-specific work performed at the Eskenazi Museum of Art designed by I.M. Pei. The work was seen by over 1,000 people and was reviewed as “an incredible awakening that brings us into the embrace of Mr. Pei, whose spirit very much floats throughout the structure.” The ensemble’s newest choreography, Rhythm Runs Through It, has its origins in pre-pandemic explorations of rhythm, sound, and collaboration, now heightened by a sense of urgency, importance, and resilience.

FOUNDED AND DIRECTED BY SARAH NACHBAUER AND JON EDEN, EAST BY NORTH REPRESENTS THE UNRESTRICTED AND IMPROVISATIONAL SPIRIT THAT THEY FEEL SYMBOLIZE A NEW WAVE OF MODERN THEATRICAL DANCE. “UPON THE PLACE BENEATH” OCCUPIES A SPACE IN THE SUBCONSCIOUS THAT RESTORES BALANCE AND FORMS BONDS WITH OTHERS. IT IS A REESTABLISHMENT OF CONTACT AND RELIANCE.

Peripeteia is a dance inspired by events of COVID-19, the soloist recognizes her true nature of her own circumstances. The dancer wafts through the space, echoing deep roots that search inwards for answers. What is discovered from this chaos is love and the immediate desire of hope for a better future.

Metanoia Dance is a company founded by Jenifer Dillow in 2021.  Metanoia (meh-ta-noy-ah) is Greek for “the journey of changing one’s mind, heart, or way of life” and is usually connected to a spiritual moment.  Metanoia’s mission is to turn the tide through movement.  The company’s values are community, authenticity, and faith with a desire to bring freedom to dancers individually and the dance community as a whole. The piece being presented is “To My Younger Self”, performed by Jaydn Decuir and Tay Diggs.  The purpose of the piece is to highlight mental illness and to extend a message of hope to those struggling with mental health or any other battle.
